Ann Bibby trained at the London College of Fashion,
graduating
with
a BA in Fashion in 2006.
She is a designer with a unique approach to textile production and
design
that focuses on the manipulation of fabric to produce
a
combination of
textures and colours.
Ann’s approach is to work intensively with fabric, using traditional
techniques such as patchwork and smocking to sculpt and
manipulate
the fabric to transform it into a new textile in an
innovative
way.
Ann has a strong sense of texture and colour. She uses these
skills
sometimes together sometimes independently. Some pieces
stand alone
as textured pieces with no emphasis on colour whilst
others have an
emphasis on colour.
When the fabric manipulation ceases it then becomes
the piece
or
becomes
a major part of a piece of work.
Ann’s work crosses
both
fashion and interiors.
Ann’s influences are drawn from her extensive travels,
conversation
and memory.
Ann’s work has been profiled in The Quilters Guild Journal, The Quilter.
Ann hosts her first solo exhibition ‘The World of Patchwork’ at
London’s ‘Craft Central’ in April 2008. |
